HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO FIND A NANNY?
The time it takes to find a suitable Nanny depends on the role - after school nannies are a lot harder to find than a full time nanny.
Every family and placement is unique therefore no agency can give an exact timescale for making a placement!
We aim to provide suitable applicants for review within 10 - 14 days.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?
WHAT DUTIES WILL A NANNY COMPLETE?
We are often asked what will a Nanny do apart from look after the children. Alongside childcare their duties can include children's laundry, preparing children’s meals, keeping areas used with the children clean and tidy, helping with homework and managing their wardrobe.
A nanny is not a cleaner and will not complete household cleaning duties, you would be amazed how many families think this is part of the role!! Clear communication is key and all expectations should be discussed from the outset to avoid misunderstandings and to ensure a good working relationship.
DOES A NANNY HAVE TO BE OFSTED REGSITERED?
No, Nannies are not required to be Ofsted registered.
It is an entirely voluntary scheme and is only required if a family is eligible for Tax Free Childcare which offers financial support towards childcare costs.

APART FROM THE SALARY WHAT OTHER COSTS ARE THERE WHEN EMPLOYING A NANNY?
As well as the gross salary you may need to pay Employers NI and Pension contributions depending on their salary.
If your Nanny drives their own car whilst completing their duties e.g school runs, then you are required to pay 55p per mile for any journeys. Then, also think about any activities - soft play, playgroups, day trips in school holidays.
CAN A NANNY BE SELF EMPLOYED?
In the vast majority of cases NO. If a nanny works set hours, cares for children in the employer's home and follows a routine set by a single family, they are legally classed as an employee, requiring the family to operate a PAYE scheme.
The exceptions to this generally are temporary placements, roles where the nanny decides to hours/days they will work each week, they regularly work for multiple families, they can send someone else to do the job for them. To avoid any confusion you should contact HMRC to confirm employment status
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A NANNY AND AN AU PAIR?
A nanny is an experienced childcare professional employed to care for your children, either full-time, part-time or on a live-in basis and is paid a salary in line with their experience and responsibilities. An au pair is typically a young person from overseas who lives with a host family in exchange for pocket money and light childcare or household help, usually as part of a cultural exchange rather than a professional career.
DO I NEED A CONTRACT FOR MY NANNY?
Yes. As an employer, you are legally required to provide your nanny with a written statement of employment, and a full contract is strongly recommended to protect both you and your nanny. It should cover hours, salary, holiday entitlement, sick pay, notice periods and duties. We support in this process and provide guidance as part of our service to make this straightforward.
CAN I HIRE A NANNY FOR JUST BEFORE OR AFTER SCHOOL?
Yes, we do place nannies for before-school, after-school and wraparound care. These roles tend to attract fewer candidates than full-time positions, since the hours are limited, so we'd recommend getting in touch as early as possible to give us the best chance of finding a suitable match within your timeframe.
HOW MUCH NOTICE DOES A NANNY NEED TO GIVE?
This should be agreed and set out clearly in your nanny's contract from the outset. Notice periods commonly range from one to eight weeks depending on length of service, though there's no single legal minimum beyond statutory requirements. We can advise on reasonable notice periods when helping you draw up your contract.
